Day 74 of my 47th year

We slept in and got up around 9. I made delicious rice porridge for breakfast. Sonya and Leia enthusiastically demolished a whole pot of it and even asked for seconds; I had some too. Then we got ready to go to the Futurion exhibit at VDNKh.
First we stopped to congratulate my sister — it was her birthday. I went into a flower shop and found the perfect variety of strange roses: Red Monster. They were red roses that looked more like peonies, with green leaves in the center that resembled aloe. We arrived at Katya’s place and I left the girls in the car. Katya, Ilya, and Masha were not answering the phone. By some miracle I got into their building, went upstairs, and the door was eventually opened by a sleepy Ilya — at noon, mind you! =) Some people really know how to live. I cannot remember the last time I got up that late.
Katya was surprised. I handed her the flowers and the portrait I had ordered of their family, we chatted a little, Masha L. brought out a cake for Mom, Katya blew out the candles, and I left. Then we headed to VDNKh. We bought ice cream. After that we spent a very long time looking for Futurion, and just when we had nearly given up and decided to go to the Sun of Moscow ferris wheel instead, it turned out Futurion was right next to the wheel. We bought tickets, waited a bit, and then entered. Inside there were rooms with light installations and the achievements of Chinese LED manufacturing =) Just kidding. Overall it was pleasant. Of course, they could refine it a little more — make the seams in the mirrors less obvious, hide the ventilation shafts and air-conditioning units better — but overall I liked it, and it is good that Russia is beginning to create more and more of this kind of entertainment. The girls were delighted.
Afterward we went home, where nanny Katya was waiting for us. We left the girls with her and Masha and I went to McDonald’s to eat something junky. Then we headed to the flea market. There are interesting things there, and if you dig around you can probably find something your soul likes. Masha liked some earrings priced at 60,000 rubles — beautiful, but to me they looked more like junk with bits of glass. It felt very much like a setup.
Then we went to Gorky Park, took a short walk, stopped at the Zharovnya restaurant, and sat on the veranda. I had a raspberry virgin mojito, Masha had a salad. Then we headed home, stopping at a couple of neighborhood stores and Ozon on the way.
