Day 108 of my 47th year
In the morning, Masha pulled a stunt: she said she was taking out the trash, and then texted that she had decided to go to Aunt Olya’s, look through her mother’s letters, and take a break from domestic life. I used to think those stories about dads going out to buy bread and disappearing were jokes =) Funny, of course.
Leia, Sonya, and I had breakfast consisting of yesterday’s pumpkin pie, salad, and tea. Then I suggested that Leia and Sonya go for a walk, but asked both of them to clean their room first. Three-year-old Leia quickly picked up all the toys and got dressed, while eleven-year-old Sonya lay down to sleep, then said she needed half an hour, and by 7:00 p.m. she was still “cleaning.” How does that even happen?! Leia and I went for a walk together in Lefortovo. It was nice there — not too crowded, clean, and not all the leaves had fallen yet. The park was full of squirrels. We even fed one nuts that a polite little girl kindly offered us. Delightful. Leia ate her traditional crepe with honey and drank some juice. Then we climbed around on the playgrounds.
We came back home, and I put Leia down to rest. She fell asleep pretty quickly — apparently she was tired from the walk. Then the prodigal mother called and said that because of the traffic she would probably take her online institute test at Aunt Olya’s place. I just quietly said okay. I did not argue or say what I thought. While Leia was sleeping, I put a soup with porcini mushrooms and barley on to cook. Delicious. Nanny Katya arrived. Leia slept for an hour, and during that time I studied Hebrew and read.
