Proctoring
Proctoring is a technology for monitoring remote exams and tests that ensures the integrity of assessments conducted at a distance by observing the participant through a webcam and microphone, recording the screen, tracking actions, and verifying identity, much as an in-person examiner would do in a classroom. It is used in education and corporate training to obtain reliable results and prevent cheating.
How proctoring works
- Identity verification: Checking a document (passport/ID) and biometric data.
- Monitoring: Observing the participant and the surrounding environment through a webcam and microphone.
- Screen monitoring: Detecting switching to other programs or browser tabs.
- Behavior analysis: Tracking eye movement and detecting third parties or prohibited objects in the frame.
Types of proctoring
- Live: Monitoring by a human proctor.
- Automated: Specialized software analyzes the data and detects violations.
- Hybrid: A combination of automated and human oversight.
