Day 36 of the 47th orbit

Morning. Shower. Coffee. Daycare. Work.
At work I began getting into the new projects that are being handed over to me to supervise. We’ll see how it goes. In any case, anything new is always interesting, so onward.
Today I realized that CJON is doing what I designed it to do, so I’m freezing the current implementation and stopping further improvements for now. What I came up with and built is already enough to solve the problem I had in mind. I’m switching over to hardware, the software side of the prototype, and learning to work with the GSM800L. I’ll describe the frozen CJON version separately and publish it on its own. I’ll also make a couple of sample libraries, say in JS, PHP, and C++.
I also realized that my step-back idea has already been implemented quite successfully for at least one narrow use case, namely ERA-GLONASS. They install devices in all cars and, exactly as I had imagined, transmit telemetry in the event of an accident over GSM or SMS. True, for packing they use binary formats wrapped in ASN.1, and those appear to be less compact than my CJON.
In the evening I picked up Leah and Masha from daycare, we came home, and had coleslaw and chicken Kiev for dinner. Then we put the girls to bed and I was out cold. I fell asleep before 10 p.m.
