The Never Again List
I am a forgiving person and tend to forget unpleasant experiences rather than keep negativity in my head. But once again I ran into a familiar problem: my brain falls for attractive packaging, and because I forget the bad stuff, I keep making the same mistakes over and over.
Here is an example. Yesterday I was choosing coffee beans at the store. My favorite illy Classico was outrageously expensive, so I bought a package that looked as Italian as humanly possible. I was pretty sure I had bought it before, but could not remember whether I had liked it. This morning I brewed a cup and poured the damn thing down the drain. All because I had forgotten the bad experience. That got me thinking: keeping negativity inside is unhealthy, so why not outsource it to an app for negative reviews? Why only negative ones? Because the good stuff should be worth remembering on your own. If a product has no bad review in the app, either you have never tried it or you liked it.
The mechanics are simple. When you really hate something, take a photo. AI identifies the item and creates a name and description; you can add a few words about your bad experience. That is it. The app works locally and only for you, so we do not spread more hate into the world. One person’s trash is another person’s treasure.
Working names: “I Will Never…,” “The Crap Registry,” simply “Crap,” or “Never Again.”
