Heterogeneity

Heterogeneous (from the Greek for “different” + “kind”) is a term denoting diversity or heterogeneity of composition, structure, or origin among the parts that make up a whole. A heterogeneous system consists of two or more distinct phases (parts) separated by an interface, for example, a mixture of water and sand. Its antonym is homogeneous.
