MVTU/BMSTU Alumni Day
Every year, around this time, my dear Bauman Moscow State Technical University gathers all alumni within its native walls for the ceremonial launch of the fountain by the "leg" or the "summer net".
I strictly follow tradition, and for the third year in a row I have been coming back to these native walls to get inspired, feel proud, indulge in nostalgia, eat pirozhki and sausages in dough, and meet my old comrades-in-arms.
Every year I get to see Baumanka from a new angle. Today, for the first time, I visited one of the new buildings, where Mikhail Gordin, the rector of Baumanka, spoke in the large congress center; took a photo next to two Soyuz spacecraft; visited the Energo building for the first time since 2002; tried on a real space suit for extravehicular activity (did not fit); climbed into a refrigerator; checked out the wind tunnel; visited the new old location of my department (it moved again, and I could not get inside); and met up with classmates and friends. It was great. I am very proud of my university, proud that I graduated from it, and proud that I contributed at least a little to its development.
