Advent Calendar 10
Over the past year, I managed not just to start learning a new language, but to keep going past the “starting” phase. The choice is a very unusual one — Hebrew. But I have always been drawn to its unusual letters, which look unlike anything else and are unreadable to 99% of people on Earth :)
At first I absolutely did not like the sound of the language — the guttural rolling sounds mixed with hissing ones grated on my ears — but over time I got used to it. In three months of study, I managed to learn the alphabet, read with niqqud and even a little without it, learn around 250 words, and understand the grammar. I study on Duolingo — it is a perfect platform, I really like it, and I recommend it wholeheartedly. Now my wife and I have a secret language for communication. I hope that in a couple of years I will be speaking Hebrew. I wish the same for you.
P.S. I even installed a Hebrew keyboard on my phone and learned how to type. שלום לכולם ויום נעים!
